Bios:

Veronica Ethridge, BESS, Texas State University:

Besides working as your Fitness and Wellness Director, I work as a Boot Camp Instructor, Personal Trainer, and Group Exercise Instructor. I absolutely LOVE what I do!

As your Fitness and Wellness Director, I have had the pleasure of educating residents on nutrition, health, and fitness. Through teaching group exercise classes for the past 4 years, I have enjoyed creating fun and challenging cardio kickboxing, yoga, strength training, boot camp, and indoor cycling workouts.

In addition to my professional accomplishments, I have participated in many athletic endeavors and team sports, including volleyball, track and field, basketball, gymnastics, and power lifting. Also, I enjoy running at Town Lake and doing 5K and 10K races around Austin. Furthermore, the effect of the Mind-Body connection deeply inspires my work in athletics and fitness. As a result, I have developed an eight year long consistent yoga and meditation practice.

Teaching Philosophy:

Workouts should serve the dual purposes of being fun and educational. If a workout is fun, people will enjoy being physically active. If a workout is educational, people will understand how they can change their lives on a daily basis. We all make choices on health and fitness everyday. I strongly believe my role as a fitness professional is to educate and work with my clients to make healthier choices. Being healthy and fit is the greatest gift we can give our families, our friends, and ourselves.

Current Certifications:

-  ACSM PERSONAL TRAINING CERTIFICATION

-  AFAA KICKBOXING CERTIFICATION

-  AFAA PRIMARY GROUP EXERCISE INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION

-  HEALTHCARE CPR CERTIFICATION

"Push hard to get better, become smarter, grow your devotion to the truth, fuel your commitment to beauty, refine your emotional intelligence, hone your dreams, negotiate with your shadow, cure your ignorance, shed your pettiness, heighten your drive to look for the best in people, and soften your heart- Even as you always accept yourself for exactly who you are with all of your so-called imperfections." - Unknown

Leslie Rangel:

Hi! My name is Leslie and I'm from Dallas, Texas. I love teaching fitness classes! My inspiration was my decision to have a healthier lifestyle, to be more active, and to have more fun! I started by teaching Zumba, a Latin dance workout, because I love to dance and it's a GREAT workout. I have since expanded from that and have started teaching other formats and and I'm hoping to expand to many more.

Certification:

Zumba Basics I & II, seeking AFFA Group Fitness certification

Experience:

Certified in Zumba since July 2008, taught Zumba at SRD since January 2009, participated in UT  instructor training series, teaching classes through UT's Texercise Program

I have been teaching Pilates since 2002 both on the mat and apparatus, but my forte is my high-powered mat class. I focus on the classical principles and teachings of Joseph Pilates, while providing a challenging high-quality head-to-toes workout. Also, I provide private and semi-private Pilates sessions to UT students at a discounted rate! Private sessions facilitate the fastest path to meeting your personal goals.

Food Service

SRD is renown for the wonderful meals served by our food service staff. Nutritious and healthy choices are available at each meal. All meals are served except for Friday and Saturday night dinners. Regretfully, special diets cannot be accommodated.

Library and Study Hall

The Library houses a current reference collection, a literature and history collection, course evaluation files, test files, and language tapes. Dedicated in 1931, the SRD Library continues to be the only residence hall library serving UT students. The convenience of an in-house library is enhanced by the expertise of the Librarian who assists residents with computers, research, writing skills, and paper review. The Library offers informative classes throughout the year.

The fifth floor Study Hall is available 24 hours a day and is always a quiet place to study.

Parking

Parking is conveniently located but spaces are limited.

Swimming Pool/Activities/FUN!

For fun and relaxation, SRD offers our residents an Olympic-style swimming pool.

We have several activities throughout the year that include the annual Holiday Candlelight Dinner and Hall-Decorating Contest, a Spring Dance, outdoor barbecues, and our relaxing Afternoon Teas set in our elegant Living Room.
